The New Ocean Knowledge to help Agriculture Weather variability is fast, but climate variability is slow due to the ocean. Knowing El Nino or La Nina is coming and knowledge of the impacts we can mitigate many problems. The new knowledge from observing systems and forecasts are being used to alter agricultural decisions. Animations of oceanic variability will be shown and links to timely seasonal climate forecasts for crops will be demonstrated. While weather must be forecast every day, climate forecasts must be provided in advance of decision targets to be useful to the farmer. James J. O’Brien
